Outsider pop great Daniel Johnston was already the subject of an excellent documentary called The Devil and Daniel Johnston, but he'll soon star in a narrative short film too.
Fittingly called Hi, How Are You, the short is being made by filmmaker/actor Gabriel Sunday and will star Daniel Johnston. The film utilizes Johnston's real-life memories and dreams to form its narrative structure.
Currently being funded on Kickstarter, the project has attracted some famous donators. Rapper Mac Miller reportedly gave $10,000 to help fund the film, receiving Johnston's chord organ complete with illustrations and signatures. He celebrated the donation by getting a Daniel Johnston tattoo.
Pop songstress Lana Del Rey also contributed money to the project and will receive an executive producer credit as a result.
