Loraine James, Koreless, Aquarian Lead First Wave of Montreal's MUTEK 2022 Lineup

Caterina Barbieri, Dauwd, Nicola Cruz, Nicolas Bougaïeff and Planetary Assault Systems are also among the first wave of artists

MUTEK has unveiled the first wave of artists lined up to take part in the festival's 23rd edition in Montreal this August 23 to 28.

After two hybrid iterations of the fest, Montrealers and festival-goers from around the world will be able to come together again for a dazzling display of performances grounded in electronic music and digital creativity, led by 25 international artists including Loraine James, Koreless, AquarianCaterina Barbieri, Dauwd, Nicola Cruz, Nicolas Bougaïeff and Planetary Assault Systems.

Azu Tiwaline, Bendik Giske, Carmen Villain, Cora Novoa, Deena Abdelwahed, DJ Plead, Edward, Efe Ce Ele, Gabber Modus Operandi, Liliane Chlela, machìna, Marina Herlop, Powder, Sissel Wincent, Smerz and Tarta Relena round out the rest of the first wave of performers.

They will entertain the masses at a handful of Quartier des Spectacles venues: MTELUS, the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT), Place des Arts' Théâtre Maisonneuve and, in its maiden voyage, an outdoor stage on Esplanade Tranquille hosting free performances throughout the duration of the festival.

The full program is to be announced in May, with the next announcement set to highlight local and national talent, as MUTEK has spent over 20 years supporting the development and discovery of artists from Quebec and Canada.

Early bird tickets are now on sale here, available for purchase in the form of full festival Passports or Weekend Passes, ahead of individual tickets to come in May. There are discounts available for students and groups, and for each sale, $2 will be contributed to the Planetair reforestation project.
