"Where are your friends, Sackville?" That was the question from guitarist Gavin Downes as Little You, Little Me began the first few songs of their late-night set. Playing opposite a raucous bar show from SappyFest mainstay B.A. Johnston on the first night of the festival may not have seemed like the best booking news for a band from a small industrial New Brunswick city. But Little You, Little Me have been growing their stock since releasing their debut album What Have You Been Doing With Yer Time? in 2014 and opening for bands like Swervedriver and King Tuff at CMW and Pop Montreal. Thus, an audience, however tardy, was on its way.
The crowd grew steadily and the group's loud guitars and guttural outbursts fit sonically after PUP closed the Mainstage a little later than anticipated. By the end of LYLM's set, the room was full, wet from beer and sweat, and ready for ten more songs.
