Imagine a project where the National released a country-tinged jam album and hired Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits to sing lead vocals. This is essentially the feel of Atlanta, GA-based Little Horn's sophomore project, Twelve. All five tracks have an ethereal sound ― warm, plum-y guitar, deep bass and the low, cigarette-tinged voice of lead vocalist Keith Forrester over top. Opening track "Thief" sounds particularly like it was influenced by Dire Straits, and the album evolves from this point into five different jams, each of which channel a certain brand of gothic melody touched with country swagger without straying too far into either realm. Somehow the project as a whole manages to retain a light-hearted air, despite the deep bass rumblings and nostalgic vocals. It is this sonic dichotomy that makes Twelve an interesting EP.
