Listen to black midi Cover Taylor Swift's "Love Story" for New 'Cavalcovers' EP

They've also shared their renditions of King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man" and Captain Beefheart's "Moonlight on Vermont"

black midi have released Cavalcovers, a three-track EP featuring renditions of Taylor Swift's "Love Story," King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man," and Captain Beefheart's "Moonlight on Vermont."

King Crimson and Captain Beefheart (particularly the latter) are very much in black midi's wheelhouse, so the major draw is hearing them tackle a Taylor Swift classic. It works surprisingly well, and with saxophone courtesy of Kaidi Akinnibi, the cover ends up sounding like vaguely-atonal Bruce Springsteen more than anything else. It's kinda pretty!

The other two covers are solid too — Geordie Creep puts on a rumbling Don Van Vliet-growl for "Moonlight on Vermont" and "21st Century Schizoid Man," features vocals from all three members of black midi.

Cavalcovers, much like last year's Live-Cade, is a play on the band's 2021 album Cavalcade
