In the wake of her 2021 EP TRUCK RIDDIM, Toronto-based DJ Kirsten Azan — a.k.a. BAMBII — has released a new single titled "TWITCH." The track arrives coupled with immersive visuals co-directed by Kosta Kolev and BAMBII herself.
Inspired by the expansive, dark dancehall and electronic scene, Azan drew upon both genres to produce the addictive song. The "TWITCH" video kicks off with a sci-fi-esque iridescent bubble, pulsing with energy as if alive. Then, the scene shifts jarringly to first-person point-of-view as we are awoken and led through the dimness and mood lighting of a party.
Utterly immersive in its approach, we glimpse partygoers surrounding that same bubble — now metallic — as they cheer and prod. People stand at the foot of a lake as the bubble hovers over its waters by the video's close. The blend of VFX, mesmerizing point-of-view shots and vibey atmosphere make for a killer watch.
Wherever we find BAMBII, her reverence for dance music is sure to follow as she demonstrates an ability to form connections between cultures, individuals and spaces. The artist was recognized for her prowess in the field of music video direction back in 2020 by the Prism Prize for her and Kolev's efforts on their video for "NITEVISION."
