In January 2011, Lindi Ortega released her full-length album, Little Red Boots. To follow that up, she released a four-song Christmas EP, Tennessee Christmas. Three songs on the EP ("Christmas Eve With You," "All I Want for Christmas is a Cowboy" and "Christmas Carol") are her blue-grassy, tongue-in-cheek creations. The fourth track is the classic "Blue Christmas." It's an undeniably sweet endeavour to write original Christmas songs, but the one thing I don't understand is the purpose of a four-track Christmas EP. The run-time is less than 15 minutes, and considering the fact that she penned her creations for the affair, coupled with the fact that there's no shortage of Christmas carols, why wouldn't she pick a few more and flesh Tennessee Christmas out? As it stands, it's a pretty little album, but it's just so fleeting.
