Vegetable enthusiast and newfound psych-rock prodigy Lil Yachty's Vancouver concert was cut short this weekend after he urged fans to open up this pit.
Amid his Field Trip Tour of North America behind Let's Start Here., the artist's show at UBC's Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre on Saturday (October 21) was cancelled by security only five songs into Yachty's set after he encouraged the audience to fill up the pit section of the arena floor.
Fan-shot footage shows the rapper prompting the crowd to "Fill it up, fill it up!" and fans storming the pit, quickly forming a much higher-density cluster of bodies in the area. They also ended up crowd-surfing a piece of security fencing for some reason.

UBC issued a statement yesterday (October 22) saying that cancelling the concert was a joint decision between their arena staff and concert promotion giant Live Nation.
"During the performance, the artist had invited attendees from reserved seating in the stands to join the floor area. This put the floor area over capacity, so UBC and Live Nation staff paused the show to direct audience members back to their seats," it reads [via CBC].
Lil Yachty requested that fans return to their seats — but when he returned to the stage, so did concertgoers to the pit, forcing staff to cancel the show "out of an abundance of caution and with the safety of concertgoers top of mind."
"We are unaware of any significant medical or police incidents arising from the show's cancellation," the statement added.
