The mother of Lil Peep has filed a lawsuit against the late rapper's management team, claiming they contributed to the circumstances that led to his overdose death in 2017.
His mother, Liza Womack, filed the lawsuit on Monday (October 7) against First Access Entertainment, as well as various individuals associated with the company, both TMZ and the New York Times report.
According to the suit, the use of drugs was normalized and even encouraged by the rapper's management while he was on his final tour in 2017 before his death inside a tour bus.
Womack alleges Peep's management regularly supplied the rapper with Xanax, Ketamine and various other drugs while he toured. She also claims in her suit that when Peep asked to leave his final tour, managers forced him to remain on the road.
In one instance, the lawsuit claims that on a Los Angeles tour stop on May 10, 2017, Peep was "barely able to communicate, let alone perform, due to his use of drugs." Despite him being in a "comatose-like state," however, his managers pushed him to perform, the suit states.
Womack goes on to claim that Peep wanted to quit his final tour, saying he was both physically and emotionally drained. But when the rapper tried to make an exit, management "pushed [Peep] onto stage after stage in city after city, plying and propping" him up with drugs.
Speaking to the New York Times, Womack said, "This is something that I must do as a mother... I feel very concerned that they not be exploited.... What [Lil Peep] had to live through is actually horrifying to me, and I'm sure he's not the only person his age in this situation."
Lil Peep died in 2017 from an overdose of fentanyl and Xanax. He was 21.
