The Leatherettes

Toronto ON June 7 to 9

Apparently even Dundee, UK’s Leatherettes know they leave something to be desired as Twiggy-esque front-woman Becca Bomb kicked off their set with the ominous question: “Are you ready for a big ball of shite?” Even with a drum machine, this art rock/electro punk duo (guitar and vocals) were off time and out of key. Caterwauling a mid-tempo stream-of-consciousness about nothing, the only appreciative sorts should be makers of headache remedies. How this band garnered the “rockin’ punk” description in the festival directory is as much of a mystery as how they managed to squeak into such a prime slot.
