In 2014, LCD Soundsystem treated the live recording of their April 2011 farewell show at Madison Square Garden to an elaborate vinyl box set dubbed The Long Goodbye. Now, just as the group returned years afterward, so too will the 5-LP release.
In celebration of the captured performance's 10th anniversary, The Long Goodbye will be reissued August 6 through DFA Records, in both 5-LP and 3-CD editions.
For a refresher, the career-spanning three-hour, 28-song set saw LCD Soundsystem's core live band of James Murphy, Pat Mahoney, Nancy Whang, Al Doyle, Gavilán Rayna Russom and Tyler Pope joined by a choir, string and horn sections. As a massive ensemble, they proceeded to play a range of tracks from across the group's career.
Special guest performances came from Arcade Fire's Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, Reggie Watts, the Juan MacLean, Shit Robot, Planningtorock, and Shannon Funchess of Light Asylum.
