Quebecoise dream-pop artist Laurence-Anne has announced that her new album Oniromancie will be released on September 8 via Bonsound. "Politesse" is the second single she's released from the album, following "Polymorphe."
Produced alongside François Zaïdan, the singer-songwriter's third full-length captures the essence of dreams and imagination that come out at night, behind closed eyes.
She said of her songwriting process: "Being a person of few words, automatic writing has always been a useful tool for me when working on lyrics, as it helps me to externalize and understand my emotions, fears and needs. When I dream, I have this same type of interaction with my subconscious. Everything becomes clearer to me."
On "Politesse," Laurence-Anne offers an eerier side to her usually flowy, dreamy sound, featuring a haunting synth melody and dark, mysterious lyrics. The song also features a smattering of crying saxophone and clarinet sequences by Ariel Comtois and Zaïdan.
"Politesse points to the end of something, to the clues that were there before my eyes when I kept them shut for too long," said Laurence-Anne in a press release.
