Laura Veirs has detailed her twelfth studio LP. The Portland, OR-based singer-songwriter will shine her Found Light on a new album arriving July 8 via her own Raven Marching Band Records.
Following 2020's My Echo — parts of which captured her divorce from producer and then-husband, Tucker Martine — Found Light is said to be something of an artistic sea change for Veirs.
For one, Found Light marks her first record with co-production credits from working alongside Shahzad Ismaily, and also finds her embracing "a self-sovereignty and artistic independence" that was previously unknown.
Veirs gives a look at this personal and professional liberation in an accompanying video for "Winter Windows," which you can find alongside Found Light's tracklist below.
"This song gets at my punk roots but feels confident and current to my life right now," Veirs shares of "Winter Windows," adding, "It's very much about the strength of mothers and the power that women in cooperation have to shape their own lives and the lives of children. It's about us taking the reins of life and sharing our internal light and power. I believe these rays of strength echo outward and foster love that is passed through the generations. It was fun to stretch my vocals on the high chorus near the end."

I had a gut, instinctual feeling about a video for this song so I went down to my basement, set up my iPhone and danced to the song. I danced hard. Danced until I was out of breath. Until I'd 'said' all I could say"
