The Last Deal

Berdache

The Last Deal aren’t a band you want to have on your headphones for a nice walk on a sunny day, but they’re the perfect soundtrack if you want to sit alone with the lights turned down low. Even at its most melodramatic moments — and there are a few here — Berdache is a solid listen, ranging from soft and pretty to more intense, darker sounds. The musicianship is stellar, and while the playing is technically very proficient the band don’t let it get in the way of writing some incredibly emotive and powerful songs. This three-piece know how to build tension. Songs like "The Ocean” start slow and introspective and end in epic, cacophonous displays, while tracks like "Measure” show the band at their best vocally, with a refrain that will get stuck in your head.
