Back in November 2009, long-running electro poppers Ladytron hinted at releasing a greatest-hits compilation. While at the time band member Reuben Wu said he hoped the collection would come out by the summer of 2010, the project didn't materialize as planned. Better late than never, the group have now announced it will be out in time for spring.
A press release explains that Best of Ladytron: 00-10 will be loosed on March 29 via Nettwerk Records. The set will cover the outfit's career, from 2001's debut disc 604 through to their last platter, 2008's Velocifero. Two new songs, "Ace Of Hz" and "Little Black Angel," are also included.
Though they weren't the only band to craft synth pop at the turn of the century, Ladytron are arguably one of the bands that re-popularized the '80s analog synth sound while also adding their own atmospheric tricks, not to mention the infectious harmonies of singers Helen Marnie and Mira Aroyo.
"There just weren't that many people making pop music with synthesizers," singer Aroyo said in a statement. "We didn't invent it, but we did it in a very different way."
Best of Ladytron: 00-10 is set to be released as both single and deluxe double-disc editions. The deluxe version features an additional 16 tracks and an 80-page booklet of photos. You can check out the tracklist below, as well as an album sampler.
Fans hoping for more new tunes beyond the two tracks on Best of Ladytron: 00-10 will be glad to know that Ladytron are currently prepping a new album. The as-of-yet untitled collection is scheduled to drop this summer.
