Ladyhawk

I caught this Vancouver foursome twice during NXNE, and although they sound great outdoors, they’re definitely in their element in a hot and sweaty club with a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd. Singer Duffy Driediger looks more like he should be a member of a hardcore band, but when he opens his mouth it’s pure rock gold. Ladyhawk even managed to make a few guys take off their shirts, much to the dismay, I’m sure, of the other people moshing and crowd-surfing around them. The band might play an amazingly stripped down rock show, but nobody needs to see the human counterpart.
