Taking the stage in the early afternoon, Kurt Vile arrived behind a mess of long hair, decked out in all white and led the Violators through "Wakin On a Pretty Day" from this year's Wakin On a Pretty Daze. It was a high point during a set that tended to meander a bit, so it didn't help that the rain began competing for attention during "Society is My Friend." Vile's stage banter was minimal, though he did thank the Sadies (with whom he'd appeared on stage earlier in the day) off the top and gave a shout out to birthdays in the audience. An acoustic rendition of Smoke Ring for My Halo's "Peeping Tomboy" was a welcome switch from the onslaught of fuzzed-out guitar and hard-to-hear vocals, and near the end of the show, onlookers were treated to a killer sax solo that also broke the somewhat monotonous set.
