King Cobb Steelie to Perform 'Project Twinkle' in Full on Canadian Dates

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 20, 2012

It's been the better part of two decades since Guelph, ON genre-mashers King Cobb Steelie released their 1994 album Project Twinkle. They recently reissued the disc on October 30 through Pheromone Recordings, and now they're preparing to play the 10-song collection in full at a couple of special Ontario shows.

The first of these full-album performances will take place at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern on November 29 with openers Army Girls. The next will be at Guelph's recently announced Stay Out of the Mall XI festival. This charity gig will run from December 13 to 15 at Van Gogh's Ear. King Cobb Steelie is slated to play the middle night on December 14.

The newly remastered version of Project Twinkle features a dub remix of "Italian Ufology Today" from Mad Professor. In case you need a refresher, Pheromone's press release explains, "Project Twinkle's 10 tracks and 60 minutes of music are a true aural experience blending '80s hardcore influences with jazz/dub/ambient and electronica in stunning fashion. [Bill] Laswell's mix, with its huge bottom end and restless sonic exploration, stands the test of time, making Project Twinkle as contemporary today as it was in 1994."
