Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew is wrapping up this terrible year with a bizarre holiday song performed by a sad hand puppet. His latest, "Depressed Unicorn Christmas Song" is a welcome, silly reminder that 2020 is almost over at last.
"The goal was to make people smile and embrace the crazy year we've all had," Drew explained.
If his goal was to cheer us up, he's gone about it in an odd way. "And the divide this year has been insane / All the pain this year we're all to blame," the unicorn sings. "It's you, it's you, it's you, it's you / It's me, it's me, it's me, it's me."
The song is out today through Arts & Crafts. Drew is fresh off of his participation in the label's holiday livestream event, which featured artists from Home for the Holidays, as well as a few more A&C favourites like Lo Talker, Chris Murphy and more.
