The Toronto Jazz Festival returns to the city this summer for its 38th year. Running from June 20 to 29 across multiple venues like Massey Hall, Koerner Hall, the Rex Hotel, Hugh's Room Live and more, the 10-day festival continues to be a platform for both emerging voices and established legends, all the while highlighting the global reach of jazz and its deep local roots.
OLG Opening Weekend will kick off this year's free admission programming, featuring artists David Occhipinti, Dione Taylor, Johnathan Morin and more. SideWalk Sessions will transform Bloor-Yorkville's sidewalks into spontaneous stages, welcoming audiences to discover some of Toronto's most engaging musicians across the festival's 10 days of free outdoor performances.
Among the ticketed headlining performances for this year's festival are Broken Social Scene, Mavis Staples, Makaya McCraven, Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, Arooj Aftab, Bill Frisell, Mike Stern, Ghost-Note, Kneebody, Hilario Duran, Christine Jensen, Rich Brown, Ale Nunez, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and more.
Shining a light on homegrown talent, this summer's Sounds Like Toronto series will feature Waleed Kush Afro-Jazz, Danae Olano, Lavender Town, Alex Pangman, Jeremy Ledbetter and more.
On June 21 at Koerner Hall, Toronto Jazz Festival will be presenting On Their Shoulders, an evening of music celebrating African-Canadian artists and trailblazers of Toronto's jazz scene produced by Shakura S'Aida. Artists on the bill include Jackie Richardson, Molly Johnson, Joe Sealy, Jay Douglas and Bobby Dean Blackburn
"The Toronto Jazz Festival is about more than just music — it's about discovery, community, culture, and the incredible creativity thriving in this city," shared Artistic Director of the Toronto Jazz Festival Josh Grossman in a release. "From globally celebrated artists to local innovators redefining jazz, this year's lineup reflects the vitality of Toronto's scene and the power of jazz to connect us all."
