An eccentric millionaire's garage just got a whole lot louder. It's been reported that deceased Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham recently had his famous gong sold for $64,000 US to an anonymous buyer.
According to The Pulse of Radio [via Blabbermouth], Bonham's gong was originally placed in Bonhams & Butterfields' Entertainment Memorabilia auction in June, and was expected to bring in around $120,000. The gong never sold, but was instead later purchased by an anonymous buyer on July 6.
Similarly, Jimmy Page's 1971 Orange Matamp brought in $30,000 on an eBay sale in May. All that's left to be auctioned, it seems, are the various objects Robert Plant used to stuff in his unspeakably tight pants.
