The Jettison Commitment's debut EP, This Changes Everything, combines hardcore intentions with ambient melodies, taking the listener on a bumpy journey through a variety of emotions. While the lyrics fall short of their contemporaries, they have camaraderie and conviction on their side, not to mention svelte metal licks and tearing vocals. Produced by Aaron Murray (the Used, Rise Against, Baptized in Blood), This Changes Everything documents the ambitions of five young guys growing up in London, ON. "Satin Finish" and "Double Rye & Coke" highlight their aggressive side with collected angst and abrasive, melting metal verses. They hack through harmonies on "Question Number One," a softer track that packs some of the best guitar scaling on the album. While it's a strong debut, lyrically it sounds young and reserved. This could be fixed with a newspaper subscription and a trip to the library.
