Jack White's Third Man Records has a music equipment division called Third Man Hardware, and the company has just released its latest guitar pedal. It has teamed up with MXR, a signal splitter, and White himself has filmed a demo video.
The pedal is a twist on MXR's Micro Amp preamp pedal — with the twist being that it contains two Micro Amp circuits and has two inputs, which can go to separate amps and/or effects. It has two separate gain knobs for the two signals.
"We want to make things that appeal to people from all kinds of genres, and a Micro Amp like that has a vast appeal to people for all kinds of applications," White said in a statement about the Double Down. "You could see people using this for vocals or some kind of stereo effect for instruments."
White has long used two different amps on stage, so this allows him to send separate signals to those amps.
The pedal is available in black with yellow trim (which costs $242.43 CAD) or in a limited-edition colourway of yellow with black trim ($346.54 CAD). It's available from Third Man's Reverb store or directly from the Third Man store.
