It's the 399-Pound Taylor Swift Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Ohio artist Jeanette Paras saw a giant gourd's worth of blank space and wrote her name

Somehow I nearly forgot that 1989 (Taylor's Version) comes out tomorrow amid the Eras Tour film and Travis Kelce chaos. And it's also almost Halloween! Which is all definitely too much excitement for Dublin, OH-based artist Jeanette Paras, who has painted a 399-pound pumpkin of Taylor Swift's likeness.

Featuring sweet potato ears and hair fashioned from nine wigs, "Taylor SwiftKin" may be nearly 400 pounds, but she's far from the biggest monster on Paras's hill. Carving celebrities into pumpkins since 1998, the self-proclaimed "crazy pumpkin lady" has done gourds of even greater girths: her 2021 "Ted LassoKin" weighed 705 pounds, and her 2009 creation — a rendering of Carol from Where the Wild Things Are displayed on the porch of Ohio's then-governor — weighed 1,197 pounds.

Taylor SwiftKin was first sketched, then painted in Paras's garage onto a pumpkin grown by local farmers, based on the pop star's bejewelled red carpet look at this year's Grammys. Paras also added a 20-pound football pumpkin to represent Swift's rumoured boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce.

Paras has partnered with the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the Ohio State University to raise money during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and will match the first $2,500 USD donated.

"That's one reason I do this," the artist told The Columbus Dispatch of her annual pumpkin display. "The other reason is that I think I'm funny."
