Iron & Wine Covers George Michael, Little Feat on New 7-Inch

BY Alex HudsonPublished May 10, 2012

Despite Iron & Wine's lushly produced recent albums, bearded family man Sam Beam is still most closely associated with hushed, barebones folk. But evidently the dude isn't opposed into dabbling into other genres, too, since he just announced plans to cover George Michael on a new seven-inch.

Beam is taking on Michael's song "One More Try" for the single Two Sides of George. This is backed by a version of Little Feat's "Trouble" (written by Lowell George, hence the title Two Sides of George). The A-side was captured by A.V. Club's Undercover series, while the flip comes from a 2011 live gig. Listen to the hushed, reverent version of "One More Try" at the bottom of the page.

The single is being released as part of Suicide Squeeze's previously announced singles series and is limited to 750 copies: 250 are red, 250 are yellow, and 250 are black. If you pre-order a copy right here, it will ship sometime around June 18.

Below you can also find Iron and Wine's upcoming tour schedule, which includes a couple of Canadian festival appearances.
