Earlier this year, Toronto's Invasions surprised their followers by reworking their sound and unveiling a new "surf western" style. Now they've given us another taste of what they're working on with a live video for "Cursed Comfort."
This performance was filmed at the Silver Dollar Room in Toronto for Canadian Music Week. "Surf western" certainly seems to be a good way to describe this raw and rowdy (yet moodily atmospheric) number, which includes a mariachi-tinged trumpet solo.
This song will appear on Invasions' upcoming album, due out this summer. The band will perform this Thursday (May 2) at the Horseshoe Tavern with Michael Rault, Wicked Witches and Boxer the Horse.
