Canada has never really been a stronghold for atmospheric metal bands; the cream of the crop hail from Sweden and Finland. Into Eternity has arrived to challenge that. Based in Regina, SK, not exactly a metal haven in itself, the quintet have put together a nine-song debut that is a real gem. Led by the clean vocals of Tim Roth, the band are somewhat similar in stature to early Katatonia and Amorphis. The band generally skips quite successfully between clean and gruff vocals, much in the same way Amorphis did on their 1996 album Elegy. If they can pull this stuff off live, Into Eternity should definitely be considered as one of the best unsigned metal bands in Canada.
