Imagine an instrumental version of down-tempo rockers the Sea & Cake, where they were a product of Berlins minimal scene instead of Chicagos indie scene, and youll get the general idea of this latest disc from two-piece Im Not a Gun. For the most part a guitar/bass/drums album with flourishes of electronic texture here and there, its probably the only record reviewed on this page to prompt "they kind of sound like Coldplay from a reviewers girlfriend. Which is not to say its sonically boring its not. Its just a shame the electronics werent featured more. As it is though, its a solid "rocktronica record: varied and in some cases quite pretty, in a Godspeed-with-computer-noises-kind of way. Sunday afternoon music then.
