Just two weeks ago, we reported that Toronto, ON punk rockers Hostage Life were preparing their new, turned-down album for Juicebox Recording Co. The album, Center of the Universe, is already available for free digitally and comes out physically November 17. Unfortunately, by then the band will be three days away from their final show.
According to a post on the band's blog, the band have decided to throw in the towel, with their last show taking place later this month.
Titled "An Intentionally Vague Post Regarding the Dissolution of Hostage Life," the band wrote the following statement:
The last Hostage Life show ever will take place at Sneaky Dee's on November 20th. This may seem like it is coming out of left-field, but one of us had some personal problems that needed to be taken care of and the rest of the band decided it would be better to break up than to continue a man short. Thanks to everyone that helped, watched, hated, loved, and listened.
It's tragic timing with their album coming so soon, but at least the band are leaving on a high note.
