Equal parts New York Dolls attitude and Jon Spencer hip-shake, the Holy Ghost wears its hometown influences on its sleeveless shirts for this sophomore full-length release. Crafty arrangementsa, hooks galore and plenty of searing guitar work keep this programme musically interesting, while dynamic vocalist/yelper Christopher Dean Heines lyrics provide a veritable gallery of thought-provoking images throughout. Save for a couple of heavy, lumbering, cerebral rockers, you can dance to this stuff, too. The studio handiwork of producer A.J. Mogis (Bright Eyes, Forecast, Planes Mistaken for Stars) means theres loads of headphone potential here, too.
