The four-piece from Toronto were another big surprise. Having been together for less than a year, they sound like Interpol making it up on the spot until one of the busiest guitarists in post-rock comes in to blow the new wave vibe out of the water. Sporting a drummer obviously indebted to a Constellation back catalogue, he rhythmically muscled cascading songs through their peaks, though to be honest, he could have been a fair bit louder and more active on the skins. Ironically, for a band in a genre known for its self-absorbed musicianship, the drummer really needs to try more shit out.
