Hermetic

'Heartbreakology'

Vancouver's Hermetic haven't yet prepped a full-length follow-up to their 2012 LP Civilized City, but the duo have unleashed a bite-sized exploration of fuzzy tunesmithing called Heartbreakology.

Like past work, the new six-song set plays to '90s nostalgia, with tracks like "Man of Letters," "Conspicuous Production" and the title track diffusing Murderecords-style Maritimes indie rock with Dear You-era Jawbreaker. The slightly faux-Brit vocals of Eric Axen run much smoother than Blake Schwarzenbach's signature sandpaper croon, though.

While available for purchase now on the group's Bandcamp page, a limited cassette edition will be released by the end of the month.
