Just when we thought 2017 was finally gonna give us a break and just end already, the Decemberists went ahead and teamed up with Hamilton musical theatre rapper Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Colin Meloy and his folksy band have contributed to a new series that has been embarrassingly dubbed The Hamildrops. It features artists interpreting work by Miranda that for whatever reason didn't make it into the final stage show.
The Decemberists have put their own Decemberist-y twist on a song titled "Ben Franklin's Song," which hears Meloy declaring himself "Benjamin Fucking Franklin" and saying things like, "Early to bed, bitches, early to rise."
Listen to the worlds of Meloy and Miranda collide in the players below.
