Carly Rae Jepsen is emerging from the depths of The Loneliest Time to say hello — kitty, that is. The Mission, BC-hailing pop star is singing the theme song for the beloved Sanrio character franchise's new Amazon Kids+ animated series Hello Kitty: Super Style!.
As Jepsen historians will have you know, the year 2016 showed us the singer-songwriter's incomparable soundtrack abilities, bringing us both the transcendent saccharine adrenaline-rush of perfection that is "Cut to the Feeling" from the animated film Ballerina and the '90s twee-core Fuller House theme song "Everywhere You Look." But of course, those original tracks followed her stirring rendition of the classic "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid in 2013.
"'Hooray, yippee, buttons and bows…' 🎀 @hellokitty is making her 3D debut and I'm singing her new theme song!! Yes indeed," the artist shared in an Instagram post, adding that the show is now available to stream in the US, Canada, UK and Japan.
Watch the trailer for the show below, which features a preview of the Jepsen-sung theme song which was written by Jared Faber.
Jepsen's "Surrender My Heart" is one of Exclaim!'s 25 best songs of 2022.
