Haruomi Hosono is adding to his 50th anniversary celebrations, this time enlisting none other than Cornelius to curate a new collection honouring the works of the famed Happy End/Yellow Magic Orchestra member.
Simply titled Hosono Haruomi Compiled by Oyamada Keigo, the double-disc compilation will arrive on September 25 via Speedstar Records, which released the stellar Hosono House re-recording, Hochono House, earlier this year.
The compilation marks the second in the Hosono-celebrating series, with a Hosono Haruomi Compiled by Hoshino Gen arriving on August 28.
The collection curated by Oyamada (a.k.a Cornelius) features a cross section of Hosono classics and deep cuts, including tracks from Happy End, YMO and Hosono's solo works. This includes selections from albums such as Tropical Dandy, The Endless Talking, HoSoNoVa and Omni Sight Seeing.

Beyond the upcoming comps, Hosono will close out the year with a series of more 50th anniversary activities. These include the Haruomi Hosono 50th anniversary exhibition "Hosono Sightseeing 1969-2019," which runs from October 4 to November 4 at the Roppongi Hills Observatory in Tokyo. Hosono will also play a special anniversary performances on November 30 and December 1, though details have yet to be announced.
What's more, Hosono will be the subject of a new film documentary. At this point, though, no further details have been revealed.
As previously reported, Hosono was the subject of a reissue campaign from Light in the Attic last year, as well as appeared on that label's Kankyō Ongaku: Japanese Ambient, Environmental & New Age Music 1980-1990. He also recently received notable shout-outs in North America from both Mac DeMarco and Vampire Weekend, as well as played a series of rare U.S. dates.
Cornelius, meanwhile, is celebrating his beloved Point album with both an expanded reissue and North American tour. You can learn more here.
