Canada Day is going to look much different this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, but the City of Hamilton still has plenty of celebrations headed our way.

While the annual Canada Day event that traditionally takes place at Bayfront Parkin won't be able to occur, there are plenty of family-friendly initiatives to help connect Hamiltonians on Canada Day 2020 virtually. This includes a special one-hour broadcast on CHCH put together by Sonic Unyon Records.

Beginning at 7 p.m. ET on July 1, the broadcast will be packed with talented local artists, entertainers and personalities. This includes the Dirty Nil, Terra Lightfoot, Tom Wilson, John Ellison, Hamilton Children's Choir, the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Harrison Kennedy and Queen Cee.

In a statement, Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberger said:

On July 1st, Canadians come together to celebrate living in the best country in the world. We are a country that prides itself on inclusion and kindness and thrives on its diversity. This year, due to the pandemic, coming together is going to be a little different, but everyone can still come together, while remaining safely apart, to celebrate our beautiful, multicultural country. Canada Day presented by RBC promises to be an exciting, virtual and interactive day for all to enjoy. I look forward to seeing Hamiltonians share their pride this Canada Day!
