Half Moon Run

"I Can't Figure Out What's Going On" (video)

Half Moon Run released their latest LP Sun Leads Me On earlier this fall, and the Montreal unit have now unveiled a music video for "I Can't Figure Out What's Going On" from that same album.

The clip opens on the melodic indie rock four-piece performing in a cozy living room that's been decorated with elaborately framed portraits, a grandfather clock and florally-upholstered furniture. The camera then pans around the rest of the vintage home, showing scenes in which a goose gets saved from becoming dinner and owls overlook the accompanying string section. There's even a gorilla rocking out to the song's climactic guitar solo.

The clip was directed by Heston L'Abbé. "The band came to me with ideas about psychedelia/the fluidity of space and time, and I've always been a fan of the Surrealists and how they work in the subconscious dream space — manipulating symbols and archetypes to imbue chaos with meaning," he said in a statement, explaining the concept behind the video.
