There was much buzz surrounding Guantanamo Baywatch by the time they performed their final set of the Big Winter Classic at the Patio "Albeerta" Stage on Saturday evening (January 30). The Portland surf-rockers brought a summery vibe to the chilly outdoor stage, getting audience members dancing. Their music had an old-fashioned rock flavour to it, courtesy of feel-good melodies and fun riffs from their lead singer's left-handed guitar, the latter of which fleshed out the band's sound.

The best moments of their set came when the band broke the generic surf rock formula by improvising and changing keys during the bridges of their tracks. Their guitar solos also stood out, taking the music in a different direction from the steady bop of most songs. A change in energy came during the slower quasi-ballad the band played towards the end of their performance, which would have been perfect for slow dancing.
