This is much more than an update of the Jorge Ben album of the same name, although it has the same soulfulness to it, and closes with a cover of "Ponta de Lanca Africana," from the first Africa Brazil. There's a great conceptual thing going on with this album as well, as it shifts effortlessly from solo Berimbau, through Tropicalia and funk, to the stomping soul closer. This is a heavy duty Brazilian psychedelic soul record, as engaging and enjoyable for heads as novices. Enjoy!
