Golden Dogs

For a moment, it was as if Greg Dulli’s late and lamented ’90s band the Afghan Whigs were reincarnated. These guys have the same shambling approach, sometimes called "drunkard rock,” because the soaring harmonies, sung by two or more members, sound just as good when you sing along with them while inebriated at the bar or while stumbling home after the gig. The band seemed quite capable of channelling a mid-’90s guitar pop vibe, with the Beatles forever hovering in the background. Golden Dogs are affectionate and melodic, unafraid to slobber all over you.
