Give Us the Daggers

Going on after 3:00 a.m. on the last night of CMW, embryonic four-piece Give Us the Daggers facilitated the most raucous Silver Dollar show since Jay Reatard last got hit with a bottle. Playing host to an orgy of crashing bodies, spilled drinks and lubricatory perspiration, the band melded Brit and classic rock influences with hints of hair, blues and dirt rock, making the result exuberant and frenetic. For their finale, a less-than-apropos cover of Tom Petty's "American Girl," much of the band ended up crowd-bound and presumably fondled. Two shows into existence and Give Us the Daggers are already rock stars.
