Girlpool — the Los Angeles indie rock project of Avery Tucker and Harmony Tividad — are officially calling it quits. The duo announced their split today alongside the cancellation of several upcoming tour dates.

A statement from the band reads:

After 9 years, we have decided to take a break from Girlpool and go our separate ways as songwriters. This upcoming tour will be our last one — it will be an ode to the past, a celebration for the future, and something we will pour both of our hearts into completely. We are each other's biggest fans and always encourage each other to stretch and evolve, whether that means it's alongside one another or not.

The duo went on to list dates on their forthcoming North American tour that have been cancelled as a result of this decision. Three dates in Canada had previously been mapped out, and now, only their Vancouver show at Fortune Sound Club on September 10 remains. Alongside several US shows, performances in Toronto (September 17) and Montreal (September 18) have been axed. "All purchased tickets for these shows will be refunded at point of purchase," the band wrote. "We appreciate your ongoing love and support."

Over the span of their nine-year run as a band, Girlpool released four studio albums (including this year's Forgiveness), two EPs and numerous singles. Just following the release of 2015 debut album Before the World Was Big, Tucker and Tividad performed at Exclaim!, giving us a taste of the album's title track out on the back deck.
