Toronto-by-way-of-New York songwriter Ginger Taylor has shared her first new track in three years. "Starfucker" arrives today alongside a sultry music video.

Inspired by Ethel Cain and Brian Jonestown Massacre, the track evokes a whimsical feel as if it could have been included in the soundtrack of The Craft. In part, "Starfucker" was inspired by Taylor's experience playing keys in Paste.

"I had never played for audience before and was probably a bit naive about the dynamic between audiences and on-stage performers," Taylor tells Exclaim! "There's definitely a power dynamic but it goes both ways — the crowd is just as magnetic and commanding as anyone on stage is. I was interested in that dance of power, and the way people can leverage their status to get what they think they want."

"Starfucker" follows the 2020 release of "Some Fates" and Taylor's 2019 EP, Yuppie

The music video for "Starfucker" was filmed in Paste's Toronto studio, and shot and directed entirely by Taylor and Will Agnew. Watch it below.
