Gentleman Reg Announces 'Leisure Life' Album, Shares New Single

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 13, 2012

Gentleman Reg clearly has a fondness for complex/fun release strategies, as he previously unveiled the songs from his 2009 EP Heavy Hand in a series of pairs. Now, the Toronto songwriter is back at it again with a long-player called Leisure Life, which this time will be rolled out as a series of three EPs.

The EPs will be released digitally through Heavy Head Records, with the first part arriving on July 3. This will lead up to the physical release of the full-length this fall via Heavy Head/Outside Music. The album was produced by Chris Stringer (Timber Timbre, Ohbijou) and is Reg's first record to feature a consistent backing band.

According to a press release, Leisure Life is "Reg's most solid work to date, expanding upon his indie rock style, to create something sonically bigger and showcasing his band in a way he hasn't yet done." For a taste of what's to comes, stream the single "Waiting Around for Gold" below.

Not only is Reg preparing to release the new album, but he has been busy with other projects as well. He's been performing regularly with his dance pop duo Light Fires and this summer is touring as a member of the Hidden Cameras.
