Gene Simmons has tested positive for COVID-19.
KISS made the announcement today, adding that the next four dates of their "End of the Road" tour would be delayed as a result.
"Gene Simmons has now tested positive and is experiencing mild symptoms," the group said in a statement. "The band and crew will remain at home and isolate for the next 10 days and doctors have indicated the tour should be able to resume on September 9th at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA."
The KISS bassist and co-lead singer has been outspoken about his support for vaccines, masks and quarantines. Speaking to UCR earlier this month, Simmons said: "My druthers would be that everybody is mandated to get vaccines. I hope everybody is going to be wearing their masks. But we can only control what we can control and different states and different countries have different rules."
Simmons is now the second member of KISS to be diagnosed with COVID, as just days earlier (August 26) it was announced that frontman Paul Stanley had tested positive for the virus. The band cancelled that evening's show, and Stanley tweeted yesterday (August 30) that he has since recovered.
"My COVID symptoms were MILD compared to many others and let me tell you… It kicked my ass," he said. "It's over now."
