Gatecreeper have detailed their third full-length LP. The acclaimed American death metal crew will share Dark Superstition on May 17 via Nuclear Blast, their first for the label.

A release notes that Dark Superstition's 10 tracks concern the supernatural, divination, fear of the unknown, and trust in magic or chance. The effort follows Gatecreeper's surprise 2021 album An Unexpected Reality.

"Many of the songs incorporate supernatural ideas with my own experiences," vocalist Chase H. Mason adds. "But the title itself is a reference to the Superstition Mountains in our home state of Arizona. It's a beautiful mountain range surrounded by tragedy and legends of hidden fortune."

Rock-leaning lead single "The Black Curtain" can be heard alongside a Max Moore-directed music video below, and its sonics are fit for its lyrical tale of divination. As Mason explains, "It's about being trapped between living and dying. A soul trapped in purgatory begging to be brought back by a supernatural force."

Gatecreeper worked on the material that would form Dark Superstition with Fred Estby, drummer/songwriter of Swedish death metal titans Dismember. The album was recorded and mixed by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at his God City Studios in Salem, MA.

This March and April, Gatecreeper are touring Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand and more, ahead of touring the US with In Flames in May. Find their tour dates via their official website.
