Back in 2020, Turin-born/Toronto-based songwriter Fortunato Durutti Marinetti (a.k.a. Daniel Colussi, formerly of the Shilohs) released the debut album Desire digitally and on cassette. Now, following this year's Memory's Fool, it's getting a proper label release on vinyl.
Desire will be out on September 8 through Second Spring. It was recorded throughout 2018 and 2019 at various studios in Vancouver and Winnipeg. It was mixed and mastered by Jay Arner.
A press release points to inspirations like Lou Reed, Robert Wyatt and Joni Mitchell for the album's jazz rock sound, which includes violin, cello and flute.
Cassette copies have long since sold out. The vinyl edition has been remastered for vinyl, and includes expanded artwork that includes an excerpt from Asesina Hudson's novella Blob. Vinyl is said to be the album's always-intended format.
