Fortunate Ones

"The Bliss" (video)

East Coast folk duo Fortunate Ones are set to release their debut LP The Bliss on February 10 (via Rose Cousins' label Old Farm Pony Records), and in anticipation of the forthcoming album, Exclaim.ca is pleased to premiere the title track's video.

Composed of singer/guitarist Andrew James O'Brien and singer/pianist/accordion player Catherine Allan, the St. John's-based pair take their name from the simple feeling they get from pursuing their musical aspirations.

According to a press release, the name encapsulates communal experiences with their audience, as well — it's "about connecting people of all kinds, to make strangers friends, to elicit feelings of joy, hope, sadness, and contemplation — and the spirit that we are all in this together."

As for lead single "The Bliss," it serves as an introduction to the album's stories of "hope, strength and heart." The clip features some gorgeous scenery, as well as footage of O'Brien and Allan performing and milling about the East Coast.

The band further explained in a statement, "Our title track, 'The Bliss,' is a song about seeking happiness and the video is a small window into our life together. It was shot mostly in Bonavista, Newfoundland — a spectacular part of our province and one of our favourite places to play."
