Foo Fighters have announced a new album, their first since the tragic death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins last year. But Here We Are is out on June 2 through Roswell / RCA.
The album was produced by returning studio collaborator Greg Kurstin, and it's said to sonically evoke the band's 1995 self-titled debut. That nearly-all-white image above is the album cover.
A press release doesn't mention Hawkins by name, instead alluding to "a year of staggering losses, personal introspection and bittersweet remembrances," describing But Here We Are as "a brutally honest and emotionally raw response." The announcement doesn't confirm who plays drums on the album.
Lead single and opening track "Rescued" is below. It's a stomping rock track with lyrics that allude to life-changing events happening suddenly. The album tracklist is below. But Here We Are is available to pre-order here.
This is Foo Fighters' first album since 2021's Medicine at Midnight, at which time Exclaim! interviewed frontman Dave Grohl for a cover story. Last month, it was rumoured that the Foos would release an album in March 2023.
But Here We Are:
1. Rescued
2. Under You
3. Hearing Voices
4. But Here We Are
5. The Glass
6. Nothing at All
7. Show Me How
8. Beyond Me
9. The Teacher
10. Rest
