Foals

"Daffodils" (Mark Ronson cover) (live on Triple J)

Foals have been on the promotional path ahead of this month's What Went Down, and now they've covered Mark Ronson's team-up with Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, "Daffodils."

This live-in-studio version for Triple J's Like a Version in Australia is fairly faithful to the dark, slinky funk-disco vibe of the original track. That being said, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis is very different singer from Tame Impala leader Parker, and his delivery gives this rendition some extra rock muscle. While being backed by a drum machine, the British band manage to coax some wonderfully wonky sounds of their instruments.

Check out the song below, along with footage of a drum machine-driven rendition of Foals' own "Mountain at My Gates" from the same session.

Foals will release What Went Down on August 28 through Warner Bros./Transgressive Records.
